Refinishing Wood Kitchen Cabinets

This instruction is intended to help repair or white skin covered wooden kitchen cabinets. This guide will help you not to paint the old cabinets with a solid color. My intention is to help people complete their kitchen cabinets natural wood.

You will need a minimum of tools for the job:

Electric or cordless drill
Paint applicators
Vibrating Sander
Sanding Blocks

The first thing to do is to test the new finish to see how it will work with the existing one. For this, a small area that is rarely seen. Follow these steps to test this process. I would try an area next to the fridge that you never see.

Take the doors of the cabinets using a cordless drill or screwdriver in his hand. You also need to remove the knobs, hinges and handles.

Clean the cabinets with a mild solution of Dawn dishwashing detergent and water or clean with paint thinner.

Start sanding with 100 grit. This can be done with vibrating sanders, sanding blocks, and foam pads. You must remove all finished parts of the firm. This will be a very laborious task. You can use a liquid separator, if desired. As a precaution, a dust mask when sanding or type of respirator filter are appropriate instruments to use.

After getting all the old finish with 100 grit sandpaper, so you must use 150 grit and finish the process of pickling with 220 grit sandpaper.

Before the application of dyes, sealers and clear coats, empty and clean all surfaces well.

If you use a dye to be applied with a foam brush. Be sure to wear rubber gloves. Let the stain dry time recommended by the manufacturer’s instructions. Wipe the stain with a lint-free clean outboard.

When the kitchen cabinets finish, which is very important not to hurry. Allow enough time for all applications of liquid to cure properly before sanding and recoating.

Applying clear sanding sealer (recommended) this is your next step. I spray all my coats. Consult your paint supply company for instructions on brushing or spraying them all finished you will be working.

Allow the sealer to dry completely, then sand lightly with 220 grit sandpaper. Spray, brush or eliminate your next coat of sealer, let dry and sand.

Apply two coats of clear finish topcoat.

At the end of your kitchen cabinets, if not only apply sealer stain and finish.

Screw the rear doors of the cabinets and install the handles or knobs.

This will be a time consuming project, maybe four days. The amount of time it takes depends on your skill level, size of the kitchen and the drying time required for finishing materials used.

This will be a very messy, so make sure you have plenty of paint on hand. Much of its success will depend on how to prepare parts of the cabinet for the new finish. If you get all the old finish off, you should complete your project goes well.
